Details

The famed iris garden at Meiji-jingu is in full bloom. The inviting blooms usher visitors from all directions. The flower’s undulating coloration of violet and white adds a rhythmic pulse to Hasui’s composition. The visitor's brightly colored clothes add a momentary distraction as the eye moves up the design toward the light blue sky that pays host to circling birds above.

Connoisseur's Note

This print is one of Hasui’s most sought-after post-war designs. This print is made even more desirable by its pristine condition, as it was never framed or displayed for extended periods of time. Prints in this condition seldom come up for sale. This is an exceedingly rare opportunity to own a stunning Hasui design with fresh and vivid colors in its original state.
