The famed iris garden at Meiji-jingu is in full bloom. The inviting blooms usher visitors from all directions. The flower’s undulating coloration of violet and white adds a rhythmic pulse to Hasui’s composition. The visitor's brightly colored clothes add a momentary distraction as the eye moves up the design toward the light blue sky that pays host to circling birds above.

This print is one of Hasui’s most sought-after post-war designs. This print is made even more desirable by its pristine condition, as it was never framed or displayed for extended periods of time.
