The blue cast of dusk permeates this scene while the snow gently falls onto the minka structure, a traditional Japanese farmhouse. Clifton Karhu selected wood blocks with pronounced woodgrain to imbue the print with texture and a strong atmospheric quality. Though idyllic, the scene invites closer study where the simplicity of the subject unfolds into a more contemplative and psychologically evocative experience.

Connoisseur's Note

This impression is in an exceedingly fine state of preservation. The print's colors are as fresh and vivid as the day the work was executed. It's quite rare to find oversized prints, such as this one, in excellent condition, as the vast majority of these prints suffered from poor framing practices and light exposure.
