Perhaps more than any other shin hanga artist, Kawase Hasui has taken the artistic baton from Hiroshige and moved it further with his production of some of the most beautiful atmospheric snow scenes in the modern era. Tennoji Temple is among Hasui's most desirable works within this genre. A figure in traditional dress pauses for a moment, contemplating the beauty and grandeur of the snowfall around the temple complex. This stunning work is ageless and takes its cues from memory and the longing for simpler times.

This print bears a Watanabe C-type seal, making it a rare early pre-war impression. The print's condition is excellent, with no problems to note. This print has never been framed, exhibiting colors as fresh as the day they were printed.  The colors and impression of this design are a time capsule—collectors take note: this is how this design should look!
