This outstanding reference was published in honor of, Ukiyo-e scholar, Jack Hillier’s 70th birthday. The book contains essays by the top scholars of the time from the field of Ukiyo-e, all of whom were deeply influenced by Hillier's pioneering scholarship. The book includes essays by Stephen Addiss, James B. Austin, Gian Carlo Calza, Matthi Forrer, Donald Jenkins, H. M. Kaempfer, Roger Keyes, C.H. Mitchell, Peter Morse, Gerhard Pulverer, R. W. Robinson, Lawrence Smith, and many others. The book also contains a frontispiece, an original woodblock print, by Jacob Pins.
