Details
This exhibition catalogue is one of the first publications to focus on the development of the modern Japanese print as it evolved throughout the twentieth century—Meiji period prints, Sosaku Hanga, Shin Hanga, and Contemporary prints are all featured. This catalogue does an exemplary job at illustrating and explaining each work. The selection of prints is outstanding and each work greatly contributes to the overarching undertaking of the exhibition itself.
Although this exhibition was conducted nearly 40 years ago, the curation of the works taken from the world’s top institutions and private collections makes this catalogue an important historical document and easily demonstrates why this exhibition was one of the best ever produced on the subject.
