Details

This important reference was published by the Japanese Art Society of America (JASA) as its yearly journal. This issue has a variety of essays by the leading scholars of the day. Of particular note is Professor Noriko Kuwahara's essay, "Onchi's Portrait of Hagiwara Sakutaro: Emblem of the Creative Print Movement for American Collectors".

To date, this essay is the most significant piece of scholarship on Onchi's masterpiece, A Portrait of the Poet Hagiawara, 1943. As such, it is a must for the Sosaku Hanga aficionado.
