Details
This is the definitive reference on post-war Japanese prints from the Sosaku Hanga tradition. The book follows Koshiro Onchi and his circle. It highlights the various prints produced in the Onchi lead Ichimokushu (First Thursday Club) and the prints that subsequently resulted from those gatherings. Onchi, known for his charisma, befriended several Allied officers who also contributed artwork to the group’s art portfolios.
Most of the prints illustrated in this reference are not reproduced elsewhere and are taken from the British Museum’s vast and impressive Sosaku Hanga holdings.
