This exhibition catalogue was among the first publications to feature the artwork of Kawase Hasui in English. This seminal reference highlighted Hasui's best work and offered an in-depth analysis of the various publisher seals, states, and editions in which Hasui prints were issued. The scholarship found in this catalogue was groundbreaking and still proves useful to collectors to this day.

This text opened a highly esoteric area of collecting to a broader audience who greatly benefited from its contents. As such, the catalogue itself has become a collector’s item for Hasui or Shin Hanga enthusiasts.
