This is the groundbreaking reference on the contemporary Kabuki portraits by Tsuruya Kokei. Known as the “modern-day Sharaku.” Kokei specialized in woodblock prints highlighting Kabuki actors executed with a contemporary aesthetic but mindful of the centuries-old tradition.
