Details
The technical mastery of Les Perles, Mandchoukuo is evident with even a cursory glance. In this design, Paul Jacoulet portrays a female Chinese member of the court in her elaborately fitted regalia. The design is an expertly orchestrated spectacle of color and pattern, showcasing Jacoulet's mastery while also flaunting the astonishing capabilities of his printers. Of particular note is the life-like representation of the embroidery in the woman's garments as well as the sheer veil she holds. The silver mica found throughout the woman's pearls and in the patterns of her gown and veil serve to heighten the drama of the design to heights unknown in this medium. The design provides countless places for the eye to meander and adore.
